Maynard, waited on the Colonial Secretary on Wednesday last to protest against the proposal of the Government to erect the new police quarters and lockup for Nerang on a portion of the school reserve in that township. The deputation was introduced by Mr. Stevens, who presented a petition signed by 140 resident ratepayers in Nerang, embodying the following resolutions, which were passed at a public meeting held at Dell's Hall, Nerang, on 14th June :— That this meeting hears with alarm of the intention of the Government to appropriate a part of the Nerang School Reserve for police purposes, and hereby protests against any such encroachment being made upon it
