Imaginary Creature at Babylon

The ancient city of Babylon was renowned for its massive entrance gate, the Ishtar Gate, built during the reign of Nebuchadrezzar II around 600 and named after the goddess Ishtar. Decorating it were glazed blue tiles and a frieze of bulls and dragons representing the weather god Adad. This illustration represents the dragons decorating the gate .
