HMS SPRAYVILLE 1940s FBI- Built 1920 Selby. Originally named Pickmere & owned by John Monks Ltd. Requisitioned certificate 1940 by the British Royal Navy & Admiralty Cable Service to be used as a cableship laying the Atlantic telegraph cable from UK to America. This lighthearted certificate was issued to all Royal Navy crewmen who had spent over 100 days in the Arctic. It involved an initiation service similar to that of crossing the equator. Named the Brotherhood of the FBI (Frozen bollocks in Iceland). Issued to Robert Hugill AB. Signed by the captain,the 'Great Cod' and the 'Grand Eider'
