Recent years have brought about many early varieties of the large flowering class. Coming into bloom early, as they do, makes them valuable acquisitions, and especially so in our Northern climate. A perfect form, of the Queen of England type, of exceptional merit, large and well finished. An early white. Fine substance and very lasting. Snnrise. Inside of petals (which are very broad) bright terra cotta, reverse old gold ; semi-incurved, but full to center ; fine build, with good stout stem and hand- some oak-like foliage. J. E. Lager. Very early yellow reflexed Japanese, of good size, color and substance. Foliage and stem good. Flowers lasted on stems in fine condition six weeks. Marie Louise. A beautiful recurving white, with slender interlacing petals, forming a plumy globe ; re- ceived Columbian Medal at the Chicago show. Of good substance, stems slender and stiff, foliage elegant; plenty of room for this graceful variety, which is a model foi cut flowers. M. Benj. Giroad.
