Gold headdress and ear ornaments, Chimu Imperial Epoch (1300 AD–1532 AD). The main design of the headdress is composed of a feline face with a bird's beak. Serpents hang from the ear ornaments. Here we see the trinity formed by a feline, bird and serpent, the three sacred animals of ancient Peru. This artefact is on display in the Larco Museum, a privately owned museum of pre-Columbian art, located in the Pueblo Libre District of Lima, Peru. It showcases one of the world's largest collections of pre-Columbian art including Moche, Nazca, Chimu, and Inca pieces.
