Wingfield Digby of Sherborne Castle foundedthe present Blackmore Vale hunt in 1858, buying20 couple from Lord Portmans when master of theVine. The present kennels at Charlton Horethornin the centre of the country were built by the master,who hunted the country for seven seasons at hisown expense, engaging Jack Press from the Cam-bridgeshire as huntsman. From 1884 to 1900 Mr Merthyr Guest hunted thecountry mounting the whole of the staff on greyhorses, the kennel being an excellent one oftenrepresented on the flags at Peterborough. Mr Guestpurchased the celebrated Brocklesby dog houndsfrom Lord Lonsdale in 1896, but the hounds weredispersed when he retired in 1900. Mr J.
