James Mitchell has just visited this insti-tution and inspected its condition and working; and at hissuggestion, i take the Hberty of respectfully offering some sug-gestions in reference to its future operations and prosperity,as follows : I. It was Col. Mitchells suggestion, which I heartily en-dorse, and which I hope, will strike you favorably, that an In-dustrial Department should be added to the institution. Abuilding for that purpose could be so constructed, I think, asto afford .sleeping apartments for males together with akitchen for those who would wish to do their own cooking. II. As I presume the present dormitory will be devotedto the use of females, the above arrangement would make someprovision for males. The present dormitory w411 need someprovision for furniture, but I presume that the cost will bequite moderate. I have carefully
