The statutes of Montana have always beenimperfect, confused and incomplete. One causeof confusion and lack of system is the fact thatmembers of the legislative assembly have gen-erally been men who came to Montana fromwidely separated States, and they brought withthem recollections of the statutes in force in theplace of their former homes, and thereby liavebeen enacted into the statutes of Montana de-tached, fragmentary and incomplete portions ofthe statutes of other States. For instance, ourstatutes in relation to the estates of deceased per-sons is a collection of fragments, part of themcoming from California, part from Missouri andpart from New York and Ohio. Xo
