5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Dec. 6, 2016) Amphibious assault vehicles with Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, move through the Gulf of Aden as part of an amphibious landing during Exercise Alligator Dagger, Dec. 6. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group and 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit are operating in the 5th Fleet area of responsibility in support of maritime security operations, crisis response, and theater security cooperation efforts to ensure the free flow of commerce, freedom of navigation and regional security.
