Thoughhe had himself conformed to the Romish reli-gion, he protected the Polish protestants from-persecution. His own consort continued in theprofession of the reformed religion till herdeath, whence she was never crowned queenof Poland. In 1733 Augustus undertook ajourney in the winter to Warsaw, whither hehad convoked a diet.
