MSC Napoli shipwreck. Members of the public scavenging from a container that drifted onto Branscombe beach in Devon, UK, in January 2007. The container came from the beached MSC Napoli (seen in background). This cargo ship was beached on 19 January 2007 following damage sustained in a severe storm. It was carrying almost 2400 containers, about 150 of which contained hazardous chemical substances. Here, the cargo includes nappies. The beaches were eventually cleared of cargo from the shipwreck, and the ship was emptied of fuel and briefly refloated before being broken up and towed away for scrap.
