The setting sun reflecting off The Sitting Bull Monument sculpture by Korczak Ziolkowski on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation. The memorial dates from 1953 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Standing Rock Indian Reservation is the final resting place of the famous Sioux leader who died there in 1890. He is most famous for leading Native American resistance to the US government and for winning the Battle of the Little Big Horn in Montana where a detachment of 7th Cavalry was wiped out including its commander, George Armstrong Custer. Sitting Bull was born circa 1831 in South Dakota.
