Devils Tower, WY, USA. Devils Tower National Monument preserves a sacred site and laccolithic butte rock formation.

Head on view of the astounding geologic feature that protrudes out of the rolling prairie surrounding the Black Hills, this site is considered sacred to the Northern Plains Indians and other tribes. The igneous material that forms the Tower is a phonolite porphyry intruded about million years ago, a light to dark-gray or greenish-gray igneous rock with conspicuous crystals of white feldspar.
