A 19th century illustration of a now extinct TARPAN also known as a Tarpani or Equus ferus ferus. This feral horse once freely roamed the Russian steppe from the 18th to the 20th century. The last one is believed to have died in captivity in 1909. An attempt to breed back the animal resulted in the Heck, Hegardt or Stroebel's horse ---- Иллюстрация 19-го века ныне вымершего TARPAN, также известного как Tarpani или Equus ferus ferus ferus. Последний, как полагают, умер в плену в 1909 году. Попытка развести животное обратно привела к появлению лошади Хека, Хегардта или Штребеля.
