Remains of dead albatross on North Pacific Island with bottle caps and other small pieces of plastic marine debris that were ingested by the bird.

It is thought that albatrosses pick pieces of plastic up at sea because fish eggs collect around them. Young birds ingest the plastic when being fed by their parents.
