Area, about 90 square miles. The surfaceis extremely level; the soil is sandy and moderately fertile. Wheat,potatoes, oats, hay, and live stock are the staples. The forests con-sist of pine, chestnut, and a species of oak, valuable for ship build-ing, which is an important branch of business in this county. In1S50 the county produced 7640 bushels of wheat; 13,292 of sweetpotatoes ; 19,405 of oats, and 1288 tons of hay.
