Women's Royal Naval Service aka WRENS servicing the radio equipment of a Fairey Swordfish, a biplane torpedo bomber, nicknamed "Stringbag", and principally operated by the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy. Originating in the early 1930s, the Swordfish initially operated primarily as a fleet attack aircraft, but in later years was increasingly used as an anti-submarine and training platform performing frontline service throughout the Second World War.
