Miss McKinstry gives a generous share of herattention in her double service for the municipality on the LibraryBoard and Probation Committee, and has been one of the most activeand effective members of the Womans Board of the Exposition inthe reception of guests from all parts of the world. Public Li-brary Trustee, Principal of theMission High School, former Presi-dent of the Board of Education andformer Deputy Superintendent ofSchools, was born in Cork, Ire-land, in 18-14, the son of Corneliusand ]\Iary Elizabeth (ODonovan)OConnor. It was early decidedthat he should become a began his training when thirteenyears of age. and at sixteen was ap-pointed assistant teacher, a proba-tioner at seventeen, and a year latertook rank as a regular teacher. InJune. 1863. he was summoned tocomplete his training in the Normaland ^lodel Schools. Dublin, and atthe ^lodel Farm, Glassnevin. Hesuccessfully passed the test and wasmade principal of a much larger school than that from which he wascalled to the Training Establishment. In the latter part of September, 1866, ^Ir. OConnor arrived inSan Francisco. On October 1st he became principal of St. PatricksSchool, located on ^larket
