Black, the mandiblesand legs castaneous Ied, the latter more or less shaded withfuscous ; head and thorax neatly longitudinally striate; node ofpedicel faintly and rather irregularly striate ; abdomen smooth andshining, not opaque ; pilosity very sparse, recumbent pubescencefine, thin, sericeous and shining. Head comparatively shorterand, seen from in front, rounder than in P. dypcuta ; clypeusmore convex and much more strongly carinate, anteriorly producedinto a rectangular lobe as in P. ch/peata, but the anterior margin, though transverse, is not dentate. Thorax broad in front, narrowposteriorly, the pro-mesonotal suture broad and deep, the meso-metanotal suture marked by a transverse carina; the prouotum. Fig. \AA,—PoIyrhucliis JiaUdai/i, 5- angular laterally ; the basal portion of the nietanotum flat, notconcave, the teeth or spines at the posterior lateral angles minute;apical portion of metanotiim concave, shining, very minutelytransversely striate; legs robust, tibia) smooth, not spiued. Nodeof pedicel l3iconvex, thicker than in P. clypeaia, and quadrispinousas in that species, but the lateral spines are broader and placedhigher up on the node, and the two medial spines are reduced toobtuse teeth and placed much closer together; abdomen broadlyo\al. 2 . Very similar to the ^ , the stria; on the head and thoraxcoarser, the pronotum laterally obtusely angled; the basal portionof the metanotum transversely rectangular, its posterior marginwidely emarginate, the lateral angles slightly turned u]); theabdomen longer and more massive; the soft fine sericeous recum-bent pile much denser, especially on the abdomen, and of a reddishyellow.
