Secondary cancer. Swollen lymph gland (lymphadenopathy) on the left shoulder of a 54 year old woman. The swelling is due to a metastatic (secondary) malignant (cancerous) tumour in the lymph node. This is an adenocarcinoma, a cancer that arises from glandular tissue. The cancer has spread (metastasised) from the a primary cancer in the stomach. Once a cancer has spread the prognosis is often poor.
