Located north of Oban in the western Scottish Highlands. Dunstaffnage Castle has a rich history. It is one of the oldest surviving castles in Scotland. With tall and strong curtain walls. Built before 1240 on the banks of the Firth of Lorn. It was initially the stronghold of the MacDougall clan. Later in 1308 it was captured by Robert the Bruce. In 1746. Flora MacDonald was held at the castle for her role in helping Bonnie Prince Charlie's escape.
