The CityHall was built in 1885, during his term as Mayor,and largely through his instrumentality. He has always taken an active interest in theadvancement of his chosen profession, and was amember of the faculty of the Marion-Sims MedicalCollege, of St. Louis, as Examining Physician onPhysical Diagnosis during the session of 1891-92. InOctober, 1892, he entered the faculty of the BarnesMedical College, of St. Louis, occupying the chair ofProfessor of Proctology, and has taken an active in-. 531—DON M. LEMEN. 700—RALPH A. His family consists of one daughter, Olive, andthree sons, James Louis, Charles Lay-Field, andChristopher Lorenzo. 550—DR. JAMES LOUIS OATMAN. Dr. James L. Oatman was born at OFallon, Illi-nois, December 13, 1873. He graduated, as valedic-torian, at Public High School, of Collinsville, in finishing his public school education he en-tered Marion-Sims College of Medicine, City of , and graduated from there in the year leaving the medical college he was tendered theposition of Assistant Physician to the City Hospitalof St. Louis, Mo., which he accepted. After serv-ing there one year he accepted a position as AssistantPhysician to St. Louis Insane Asylum. After serv-ing at the Insane Asvlum for two years and sixmonths, he was appointed Assistant Supe
