Kiniero, Guinea, 30th April 2015: Fishermen checking their phones after fishing in the local river.

Kiniero, Guinea, 30th April 2015: This village and the surrounding area will be flooded by the Fomi Dam. Sory Camara (checked shorts), 31 years old, fishermen with his sons. The first, Lanssa kanté, is 23 years old and the second, Ibrahima Kanté, is 18 years old. They start fishing every day from 10am, and typically catch fish such as losso, captain, Mai, Cosso, Fonon, manon, kono, teibein, sanuary fish. The best season for fishing is from January to May because at that time the river level is low. During the rainy season it’s very difficult to fish in the river because the water is too deep, so they fish by the side of the river instead. In September there’s no fishing at all. Fishing is a good business – they can earn between GNF to GNF each week. Sory’s other son is 6 years old and won’t be going to school, but will be taught fishing and work beside the dam after it is constructed.
