Houses can be contractedfor in Chicago, and put upon the lands, any wherewithin reasonable distanceof the railroad, in less thanthirty days from the dateof order. They will costfrom $250 upwards, accord-ing to the taste and re-quirements of the pur-chaser. Cows AND Oxen. — Good milch Cows can be bought at from$20 to $30. Good, well-broke working Oxen can be had at from $50 to $150 per yoke. Horses vary from $100 to $150 each. At these prices, good,strong-limbed, healthy animals can be purchased, suitable forfarms. They are extensively and cheaply raised on the prairies,for the eastern markets, and afford large profit. FENCING. An abundant supply of lumber, or timber for building orfencing, can be easily procured; but the Osage Orange planthas been extensively introduced, and is rapidly supplanting allother kinds of fencing.
