The Channel Islands or Island Fox is found only in the Channel Islands of California. Separated from the mainland after the Ice Age, the islands support many endemic species. These foxes are found on several of the main islands, but were almost driven to extinction by the arrival of non-native Golden Eagles who, themselves took advantage of the disappearance of native Bald Eagles, which suffered because of environmental DDT pollution.
