The carnation supply is noticeably im- proved. There is an increase in the cut of daffodils, tulips, freesias and sweet peas. Callas and Easter lilies are in moderate supply. Roses are still far from plentiful. Influenza is at its height in Bridge- port and a number of deaths have re- sulted. Funeral flowers have been in big demand, and there have been a number of calls for large pieces. Various Notes. The Arcade Flower Shop reports that there is a good demand for funeral work. James E. Beach says that on account of the recent cloudy weather he had difficulty in obtaining enough flowers to fill funeral orders. However, condi- tions have improved in the last few days, and more flowers are being cut. The Park Garden & Flower Shop re- ports a larger carnation crop and an increased supply of tulips, daffodils and sweet peas. John Heck & Son were busy filling orders for St. Valentine's day. Spring stock is coming along nicely at the greenhouses. James Horan & Son have been busy with funeral orders. Julius Beck, who has been confined to the house for some time with a severe cold, is again able to attend to busi- ness. His son, John Beck, who was sta- tioned just outside of Paris for a num- ber of months, has received his dis- charge from the service and is again connected with the flrm.
