Perhaps in our present state of knowledge concerning develop-mental processes it might be best not to absolutely deny the possibilityof some change in these structures before birth, or during infancy, yet, asshown here, no change, either progressive or retrogressive, has shown it-self between the ages of four and fourteen, which includes the larger partof the growth period, when we might most expect such changes to occur.
