Knutsford Cheshire, UK. UK Weather. 22nd July, 2017. Elegant Fallow Deer stags prized as ornamental species, warm in the early morning sun after heavy rain in Cheshire. Conditions are expected to improve through the day with long periods of sunshine and the occasional shower. The deer at this time of year carry a full set palmate antlers as they reach peak condition in anticipation of the autumn rut. Fallow deer were first brought to Britain from the western Mediterranean during the Roman period, when they were kept within enclosures known as ‘vivaria’.Credit; MediaWorldImages/Alamy LiveNews
