Luzon starfish (Echinaster luzonicus) regenerating its limbs. Starfish, also known as sea stars, are a type of marine invertebrate known as echinoderms. This species nearly always has six or even seven arms, as opposed to the usual five for similar species. Starfish use the tube-like feet on their underside to move across the seabed. They can be predators, plant-eaters or scavengers. This specimen had lost four of its limbs (short), which are now regenerating. Photographed off Indonesia.
