Wonderful improvements have been made in recent years in the size and beauty of these flowers, and our list comprises only the best se- lections, both in our mixtures and named sorts. Their cultivation is very simple, as they will thrive in any ordinary garden soil, but amply repay care and liberal feeding by enhanced size and beauty. A succession of bloom may be had from July to September by plant- ing at intervals from April to June. The strongest bulbs should be kept for the latest planting. Plant six inches apart in beds or double rows, and three inches deep. They are very effective when planted among roses, shrubbery, etc. In the fall, before frosts, the bulbs should be lifted, diied and stored in a cellar or some other position away from frost, for planting again the following spring.
