A Greek greave, 7th/6th century Bronze. Long greave from the high Archaic Period with the characteristically shaped shinbone ridge, calf muscles raised in relief, and surrounding rows of lining holes. Small holes for the laces. Length 36 cm. Greenish-blue patina, with dirt encrustations in places. Metal very well preserved. Glued cracks. Axel Guttmann Collection (Inv. No. AG 295/ R 65) acquired at Krefeld in 1989.
