Mongolia: Markorgis Khan, Khagan of the Northern Yuan Dynasty (r. 1455-1465), 20th century. Mahakorgis (Markorgis/Markos/Markus/Marku) (1448–1465), also known as Ukegtu Khagan, was a khagan of Mongolia. Some scholars believe his name was Christian. The youngest son of Taisun Khan, he became khagan of Mongolia in 1455, after the death of the usurper khagan Esen Taishi and his mother Samar's attacks against the Oirats. He was still a child and so real power was held by others, who constantly battled for dominance. Mahakorgis was killed when the noble power struggle turned into open war in 1465.
