George Romanes (1848-1894), Canadian-born British naturalist. Romanes was a close friend of Charles Darwin and wrote books extending and supporting Darwin's ideas on evolution. Two such books were Animal intelligence (published in 1881) and Mental Evolution in Man (published 1888).
