Crowd in Vrindavan during Holi celebrations , India

Holi is a Hindu spring festival celebrated all over India, for two days around the full moon of the month of Phalguna, in February-March. It is celebrated with particular fervor in Vrindavan, where Lord Krishna spent his childhood. The festival there lasts for ten days. The festival signifies the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring, end of winter, and for many a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forgive and forget, and repair broken relationships. It is also celebrated as a thanksgiving for a good harvest. During Holi, social barriers get broken, people feast together regardless of differences in age, sex, status and caste.
