Thai dancers celebrate the new year on December 31, 2004 in front of a packed house in Patong, Thailand on the island of Phuket less than a week after a devastating series of Tsunamis hit the Island. On the morning of Sunday, 26 December 2004, there was a severe earthquake in the Indian Ocean off the coast of northern Sumatra, Indonesia. The earthquake measured on the Richter scale and was followed by a powerful tsunami.
