He says further: "No preference has been shown in any way toward these two fields except in the matter of water. Ground was prepared and fertilized equally. The quantity of water necessary to bring about these conditions is not as great as might be imagined. Comparatively speaking only a little water was needed. This was ob- tained from a three-inch pipe at one end of the field. The water was let into a ditch about two feet deep and run by gravity through the field. This demonstration by the experimental station will result in simi- lar methods by such planters as have a prac- ticable water supply. FARQUHAR A.
