St. Paul's Protestant Church designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel & built 1832-5, Badstraße 50/51, Gesundbrunnen, Mitte-Berlin, Germany

St. Paul's Protestant Church designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel & built 1832-5, Badstraße 50/51, Gesundbrunnen, Mitte-Berlin, Germany It was third of Karl Friedrich Schinkel 's four suburban churches. It was inaugurated on May 12, 1835. The church is a single-aisled - formerly towerless - building with apse and galleries. The exterior has Corinthian pilasters that run around the entire building, a wide architrave under the cantilevered eaves and a flat gable. In 1889/1890, Max Spitta added the free-standing bell tower containing three cast steel bells. On the 75th anniversary in 1910, the parish hall on Badstraße and the bridal hall in the same Schinkel-style were added In 1943 the church was badly damaged in World War II and burned down completely during the street fighting around Berlin in 1945. In 1952 it was decided to rebuild the church and the exterior has been rebuilt to the original Schinkel design but the interior has a modern design. The former wooden altar was replaced by an altar of yellow artificial marble. The new pulpit is covered with embossed copper plates created by Ludwig Gabriel Schrieber. The 2500 pipe organ dates from 1965 and was created by the organ workshop Beckerath from Hamburg.
