An Apulian-Corinthian helmet, 5th century A large bronze, clearly set off skull, moulded forehead area, small eye slits, projecting nose-guard, the cheekpieces connected by two bridges. Broad flaring neck-guard. Three holes on the sides for the chinstrap attachment. The helmet rim and centrak face area are decorated with a fishbone pattern. The soldered plume holder is separated at the base and a pair of rivets and other holes in the region of the side mounted plume holders attest to numerous ancient repairs. Total height 26 cm.
