For an ^«r/v grape the Hartford Prolific is themost productive : the fruit is of fair quality, andwhen the vines are well pruned and cared for,the bunches are tolerably perfect, and bring agood price in the market. I have seen a vine of this variety, covering thenorth side of a building, loaded with fruit, wellripened by the tenth of September ; it is to beadmitted, however, that the fruit drops rathereasily from the clusters. The Diana is a good grape here when wellripened, and keeps remarkably well, but is toolate to ripen every year. The Rogers Hybrids are hardy and promisewell, particularly Nos. i, 4, 15, and 19. We still want a grape equal to the Catawbaia size and quality, as hardy and productive asthe Concord, and as early as the Hartford Pro- Soriicutturat JVotes and Hints. 159.
