The Island of Philae with its temple of Isis was constructed in Ptolemaic times and was saved by UNESCO between 1972 and 1980 when it was relocated to Aglika Island to save it from submersion after the building of the High Dam. A symbol of the Island of Philae is the open topped kiosk of Emperor Trajan now nicknamed ‘Pharaoh’s Bedstead’
