The exhausted gunnersand drivers plodded back twenty kilometers over ground wrested from theenemy and then for five days they rested and prepared for their next fighting. The rest period gave the ammunition train little leisure. Food hadto be carried as usual, and quantities of equipment had to be delivered tovarious units of the brigade to repair the damage done in battle.
