The pointed buds promise what summer fulfils. The broad leaves havetriangular lobes and sinuses. The lobes point forward more than outward. They are often 9 inches long and six inches second leaf shows the paler lining. The large acorns sit in saucers* much shallower thaD in other oaks The furrowedbark has a reddish-brown colour.
