Teatro Carlo Felice is the main theatre of the city of Genoa and one of the most famous in Italy. The opera and ballet season and the symphony season are held there. The theater is located just beside Piazza De Ferrari, in the city center, next to the equestrian monument to Giuseppe Garibaldi: the work of the Alexandrian sculptor Augusto Rivalta, since 1893, the imposing equestrian statue dominates the Largo Sandro Pertini. The theatre was inaugurated on 7 April 1828, in the presence of the sovereigns of the Kingdom of Sardinia, Carlo Felice, to whom it was dedicated, and Queen Maria Cristina of Savoy.
