M83 (Messier 83), or the Southern Pinwheel, is similar in shape to our own Milky Way galaxy but about half the size. Bright pink starbirth regions are seen in its spiral arms, which are blue due to the high number of hot young blue stars in them. M83 is 15 million light years from Earth in the constellation Hydra.
