In fig. 2, curve A is seen to consist of three branches, the changesof slope occurring at the pressures of about TO cm. and 40 cm. Curve Bis composed of two branches with a change of slope at the pressure08 cm. In all probability this graph also has three branches, themissing one occurring at speeds higher than the capacity of our apparatus 0 002 A. In the former investigation it was found that the changesof slope of the branches of the graphs for the superficial and deep tactilesensations were in opposite directions. This was believed to be due tosome characteristic difference in their nature. The graphs in fig. 2,however, show this explanation to be erroneous. For it is now obviousthat in the former paper the graph for the superficial sensation consistedof the second and third branches only, while that for the deep sensationconsisted of the first and second. From this figure both sensations areseen to behave in the same manner, the deep, however, being moresensitive than the superficial.
