'Ilya Muromets and Nightingale the Robber', Lubok print, 18th century. Lubok (plural Lubki) prints were Russian popular prints with simple graphics portraying stories derived from literature, religion and popular tales. A knight errant of Kievan Rus, Ilya Muromets is a hero of Russian folk poems. Found in the collection of the State Russian Museum, St Petersburg.
