His mother was a daughter of Isaiah Warren,a descendant of Gen. Joseph Warren. She diedat the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Aid-rich, in Greenfield, Sept. 10, 1876. For eight yearsprevious to their death his parents made their homewith their son, J. F. Bartlett, at Turners Falls. Mr. Bartlett received his education in the commonschools of Belchertown and Wilbraham. At theage of seventeen he enlisted as private in the 10thMassachusetts Infantry, and served for three yearsas private and non-commissioned officer in that regi-
