MCPO Charles Cartwright holds the urn containing the remains of CDR Harold Schwartz during burial at sea services aboard the tank landing ship USS RACINE (LST-1191), anchored off Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands. Schwartz served as a doctor assigned to the Paratroop Battalion, 1ST Marine Division and took part in combat operations on Guadalcanal, the Gilbert Islands, Marshall Islands and Okinawa during World War II.
