This border was for a poem in a book made by Gabriel Rossetti, the Pre-Raphaelite painter, some time between 1897 and 1920. You could remove the central tree reasonably easily of course. There are birds as well as the hare (or rabbit) being chased by the dog. A very pastoral scene.
