A chiselled and gold-inlaid Persian kard, circa 1800. Shortened blade of fine ladder wootz-Damascus with a cut back. On both sides the base of the blade bears gold-bordered fields with chiselled floral and tendril decoration. Bolster and grip frame of wootz-Damascus bearing gold-inlaid script cartouches as well as cartouches with cut floral ornamentation. Riveted grip scales of crystalline walrus ivory.
